Hello, hello!

Welcome! I am so glad you found me.

Natalie Wheaton, portrait, Rapid City and the Black Hills traveling and destination photographer
My name is Natalie Wheaton and this is my story.

I was born in USSR in 1988. My mom loved film photography which translated into dozens of childhood albums and seeded my love for the photo art as well.

My professional photography journey started in the wedding industry. I photographed my first wedding in 2006, in Kaluga, Russia. By the time I moved to the US in 2011, I’ve had dozens of weddings under my belt, a fashion magazine cover, a Hyundai commercial, the 2011 Volvo Fashion Week, a pop music artist’s album cover and countless portrait sessions under my belt.

In 2011 I landed in South Dakota with all my hopes and dreams, my tried and true Nikon and endless passion to make photography my livelihood. Fast-forward to today, I am living my dream. Every year I work with dozens of brides from all over the United States, since the Black Hills of South Dakota is the perfect wedding destination and is a true hidden photography gem.

Outside of the wedding industry, I enjoy working with local families, senior and businesses capturing individuality, creativity and inner beauty.

Ansel Adams once said:

There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.

These are the words that resonate with me the most. You will get so many perfect posed boring pictures everywhere you go. I don’t just think outside of the box, I break the box for the most genuine, fun and treasured picture you will cherish forever and be proud to display in your home.
